A bit about optimism…

Let’s talk about how to get through these grey, wintry days. I don’t know about you, but the start of winter always gets to me—short days, grey skies, and that sneaky feeling of sadness creeping in. But I’ve found that good food and a bit of optimism make all the difference.

I listen to Simon Sinek’s optimism podcast and the idea of leaning into hope. Cooking a meal from scratch feels like an act of optimism in itself—taking simple, fresh ingredients and turning them into something nourishing. It’s a little light on a dark day, you know? In his latest podcast he talks with Dr. Mark Hyman, whose main interest is what we eat and how this has a profound effect on how we feel, physically and emotionally. Totally worth checking it out here.

Our Sri Lankan spice kits are designed to help with that. The vibrant spices, like turmeric and cumin, do more than bring amazing flavour—they’re great for your gut, which is so closely linked to your brain. The cinnamon is great for antioxidants & general well being. And coconut milk? It’s like a hug in a bowl—creamy, comforting, and packed with healthy fats that keep you going.

What’s even better is sharing those meals with the people we love. Both Simon & Mark talks about the ripple effect of positivity, and honestly, I see it every time we sit down to eat as a family or with friends. A warm meal, good company, and some laughter—it’s the perfect antidote to a grey day.

So, let’s embrace a bit of sunshine in our kitchens. A curry might not fix the weather, but it sure does lift the soul. If this sounds like the pick-me-up you need, our Black Friday sale is the perfect time to dive in. No fuss, no rush—just a little nudge to stock up on your favourites while the deal is on, DEALISH for 20% off our Prawn, Mustard Fish and Lentil packs.

Who’s in? 😊

Aliza xoxo
